J & M is a family run business and was formed in 1968 . John Cavender the owner was a design engineer for one of the largest prefabrication companies in Europe. so it was only natural to bring his skills into the way J & M build their lofts.

The advantages of prefabrication is immense firstly, constructing a dormer or gable on a bench in a workshop is much safer and can be very accurately built, rather than hanging off a scaffold 3 stories up. But the biggest advantage is time, a 30ft wide dormer can be erected in 4 hours including the roof and a typical gable the same time.

We believe we can build a quality loft conversion faster than any other company out there. a typical semi detached house needing a gable end and rear dormer forming 2 bedrooms and separate bathroom will take 4 weeks and 3 days. a mid terrace with similar spec will take 4 weeks only. A detached house will only take 6 week’s. I cant remember a single job no matter how
large has taken longer than six weeks. we also do a part finished job i.e outside completion, stairs, floor fitted,and customer to finish. most jobs
specialise in only needing permitted development will only require a deposit of £350-. If planning is required the deposit is £450-.

The next payment in the process is a 40% interim payment a week into the job, by this time the whole structure is generally up with the final payment payable when the building inspector has passed the job, minus a retention invoiced 6 months after completion, together with a ten year guarantee, so you can be assured your new loft room will be trouble free for many years. Our Payment Plan

Our payment plan is unique; if building regulations are needed, a deposit of £350 is paid, no matter the size of your project. Once the structure is up, we ask for 40% and then do not ask for any money until the loft conversions kent job is completed and passed by the council. We allow you to keep the 2.5% for 6 months guarantee and if there is any problem in that time, we do not ask for the money back.
